Day 7-9   Petra
The next 3 days we will hike in Petra for a very complete discovery of this fascinating Nabatean city. Much has been written about Petra, nothing really prepares you for this amazing place. It has to be seen to be believed. The vast and unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabateans, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago, was an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome. Discover Djebel Haroun (on 1270 m), where is the tomb of Aaron, the brother of Moses.
Day 7 and 8 camping in Petra. In the evening of day 9 we return to the hotel. 5-6 h walking a day.
Day 10     Petra – Wadi Rum
In the morning we drive by minibus towards the desert of Wadi Rum (1 ½ h). At arrival the luggage will be transferred by 4x4-Jeep. Then we continue on foot to begin the exploration of the superb reliefs of the sandstone. Weather and wind have carved the imposing, towering skyscrapers. Big wadis and small canyons, sands in changeable reflections and sometimes a Bedouin tent. Go for a walk between arks and high walls which resemble petrified waterfalls, go to the meeting of the Bedouins who welcome us warmly. You will be fascinated from the cliffs and mountains, turning into pink by the failing sun. Enjoy the nights under the stars. About 3-4 h walking.
