Program Details

Day 1 Arrival – Hotel Madaba
Pick up and assistance at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Madaba for the first night.
Day 2 Madaba – Jarash – Dead Sea – Mt. Nebo - Madaba
After breakfast we explore Jarash, the ancient Gerasa. Jerash reveals a fine example of the grand, formal provincial Roman urbanism that is found throughout the Middle East. Enjoy the wonderful scenes of colonnaded streets, temples, theatres, baths, towers and gates.
We continue our tour to the lowest place on earth, the Dead Sea. More than 400 m below sea level enjoy floating effortlessly in the super salty water while soaking up the water's healthy minerals. On our way back to Madaba we stop at Mt. Nebo, one of the most revered holy sites of Jordan and the place where Moses did. Enjoy the view to Dead Sea and the Jordan valley. Dinner at the hotel in Madaba.
Day 3 Madaba – Karak – Little Petra – Beidha - Wadi Musa
Breakfast in Madaba, the “City of Mosaics“. Madaba is best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics and home to the famous 6th century Mosaic Map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land. With two million pieces of vividly coloured local stone, it depicts hills and valleys, villages and towns as far as the Nile Delta. The Mosaic Map covers the floor of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George, which was built in 1896 AD, over the remains of a much earlier 6th century Byzantine church. The mosaic panel enclosing the Map was originally around 15.6 X 6m, 94 sq.m., only about a quarter of which is preserved.
On our way to Karak we will follow the Kings Road, passing Wadi Mujib and the so called ‘Grand Canyon’ of Jordan with its spectacular views. Karak, the ancient crusader fortress, lies 900 m above sea level. Explore its endless labyrinth from arches and corridors. The castle we see today essentially dates back to the 12th century.
Shortly before arriving in Wadi Musa we will stop at Little Petra (8 km north of Petra) and have a glance at one of the very few preserved Nabatean paintings and visit Beidha, a Neolithic village (about 6.500 years BC) and one of the oldest settlements in Middle East beside Jericho.
In Wadi Musa we will stay for the next two nights. 3-4 hours walking.
Day 4 Petra
This day belongs to Jordans most famous attraction: the rose-red Nabatean city of Petra, UNESCO world heritage site and one of The New 7 Wonders of the World. Much has been written about Petra, nothing really prepares you for this amazing place. It has to be seen to be believed. The vast and unique city, carved into the sheer rock face by the Nabataeans, an industrious Arab people who settled here more than 2000 years ago, was an important junction for the silk, spice and other trade routes that linked China, India and southern Arabia with Egypt, Syria, Greece and Rome. Explore the most fascinating places of this city. End this day with a Jordanian dinner at the hotel and review the day. 6 h walking.
Day 5-6 Petra – Wadi Rum
In the morning we drive with minibus towards the desert of Wadi Rum (1 ½ h). At arrival the luggage will be transferred by 4x4-Jeep. Then we continue on foot to begin the exploration of the superb reliefs of sandstone. Weather and wind have carved the imposing, towering skyscrapers. Big wadis and small canyons, sands in changeable reflections, sometimes a Bedouin tent, and the spirit of Lawrence of Arabia.
2 nights camping. Tea and meals we will enjoy in a Bedouin tent. Other tents are available for sleeping (mattresses, covers). Bathrooms/washbowl and toilets, fed by a water tank, are available.4 h walking on day 5, 5-6 h walking on day 6.
Day 7 Wadi Rum - Aqaba – Amman
In the morning we will return to Rum village and drive to Aqaba, Jordan’s only outlet to the sea. Enjoy free time with swimming, relaxing, shopping or take a trip with the glass-bottom boat at the Read Sea. The choice is difficult! In the afternoon we will bring you to Amman, the capital of Jordan, for you last night at a hotel. 2 h walking.
